I can remember the moment in my life that defined me as an artist. I was five years old and sat on the floor of my room, drawing on a chalkboard. I drew a boy with striped socks, and knew that it was good. In grammar school and junior high, my idea of a good time was walking to Continental Art Supply on Reseda Blvd. and adding to my collection of Speedball pens. After graduating high school with honors in art, I attended The Academy of Art College in San Francisco.

Most of my adult working career has been in various forms of commercial art; Graphic design, illustration, cartooning, animation. Since 1990 I've been Senior Graphic Designer and Illustrator for a major medical device manufacturer.

In the mid 90’s, aspects of my commercial art began to evolve into pen & ink portraits, and then experiments with blended graphite.

The beginning of the 21st century saw Todd Cooper reverting to the methods and materials of the 19th century, and a newly refound passion...oil paint!

I am Art Editor for The Mountain Yodeler, a local monthly newspaper, as well as founder and twice president of the Lakes & Valleys Art Guild.
